You are invited to join our efforts in helping Christian Medical College & Hospital,
Ludhiana (CMC) through your prayers & gifts. Become a "Partner In Compassion."
Current Projects
- Books - CMC is currently in need of
recent books (within the last 10 years) on psychology & pastoral counseling for its new
training program. Items may be sent to the
USA Board address.
- Funds for Poor Patients
- Ten year old Latu's mother sold oranges from a pushcart on the city streets. Her father,
a laborer, was often away from home for days at a time. It was young Latu's responsibility
to care for her four year old brother, while her parents were at work. One day she was
teaching her brother how to fly a kite. When his kite got tangled in some electrical wires,
she tried to free it for him. Touching the wires, she was severely burned. While her parents
paid what they could, they could not begin to cover the costs. Christian Medical College
& Hospital staff provided her care anyway.

Every year, of the over 250,000 patients CMC sees, 3000-3500 patients, (an average of
nearly 100 every day), can pay little or nothing for their care. This comes at a great cost
to the hospital. Nearly $200,000 must be written off annually because the patients simply
cannot pay. This ministry can only continue through your prayers and gifts. Your gifts help
provide hope & healing in the midst of poverty, pain and suffering.
- Rapid Response (AMARS) Project
- The trauma center continues to need support for its
pre-ambulance motorcycle program
and the equipping of an ambulance. Motorbikes can get through congested city traffic much
faster than ambulances. It costs approximately $10,000 for a motorcycle and related costs.
It costs approximately $35,000 to equip an ambulance. Rapid response saves lives!
- Thalassemia Project for Children -
Thalassemia, also known as Cooley's Anemia, is a blood disorder recently found to be
prevalent in India. Without treatment, infants are prone to infection and may die before
they are one year of age. With treatment a normal life may be maintained. Treatment means
regular blood transfusions to replace red blood cells, and removal of excess iron from the
body. CMC would like to raise funds to help subsidize the treatment of patients with
Thalassemia. They have the ability to treat 100 Thalassemia patients every month. The
total cost per month would be about $5,000. Per year this adds up to $60,000.
